Skírnismál

An original translation of the 10th century Eddic poem, adapted for the 21st century stage.

Skírnismál is a story from Norse mythology: it follows the attempts of Skírnir to woo Gerðr on behalf of the god Freyr, first using flattery, then bribery, then coercion and threats of violence.

Drawing parallels between Norse honour culture and current manosphere rhetoric, this adaptation will hopefully form part of a larger anthology show of thematically linked Eddic poems.

Skírnismál was originally part of a scratch night hosted by No Such Theatre, and was then selected to form part of a work-in-progress lineup at Deadweight Theatre’s Side/Step festival.
